FAQs

What kind of school is Rosemont School of the Holy Child?
We are an independent, co-educational, school in the Catholic tradition. We enroll students from Nursery through 8th grade.

What is an independent school?
As an independent school, Rosemont School of the Holy Child is governed by a board of trustees composed of current parents, past parents, Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, and local professionals. The board supports and furthers the school's mission. The school is not owned or governed by either the Archdiocese of Philadelphia or by The Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus, although we are affiliated with both entities.

When did Rosemont School of the Holy Child become co-educational?
Rosemont School believes in a co-educational program for young children. From its founding in 1949, the school has been co-educational.

How many students attend Rosemont School of the Holy Child?
Currently, more than 320 boys and girls attend Rosemont School.

Does Rosemont School make any accommodations for families in which both parents are employed outside the home?
Students may arrive at Rosemont School by 7:45 a.m. They will be supervised from that time until school begins. Children in PreKindergarten through grade 6 can be enrolled in an extended day program, from 3 to 6 p.m. on school days. Parents enroll students for the entire school year. A Rosemont School teacher and an assistant supervise the extended day program. Another help for families with both parents employed outside the home is the school's use of technology to keep in touch with parents. Faculty email addresses are provided in the Parents' Handbook and Directory. Teachers frequently use email to stay in touch with both parents and students.

How many students are Catholic?
Our student population is approximately 90 percent Catholic. We welcome students of all religious creeds, however, and include them in our values-based education.

Where is the school located?
Rosemont School is in the heart of the Main Line, 11 miles west of Philadelphia. We are next door to Rosemont College and close to Villanova University.

Do your teachers have advanced degrees?
More than half of the faculty have advanced degrees. Moreover, the school supports the younger faculty as they pursue graduate degrees. The balance between seasoned teachers and young, talented ones makes the program and the school day both dynamic and seamlessly structured.

What else can you tell me about the teachers?
Rosemont School teachers are a dedicated group who make the school a lively and comfortable place for children to learn. We have an eight-to-one student-teacher ratio. Our teachers are involved with the whole life of the school as they coach, direct, organize community service projects, and take part in curriculum planning. Many Rosemont School teachers are leaders in professional development within the local and regional community. As such they teach educators in summer programs, write professional papers, and address conferences.
