Students Contribute Day to Service Projects

Clockwise from the top: Third grade students display their Valentine's Day cards that were sent to service men and service women in Afghanistan; painting on a tattoo during the Service Day Carnival; and hand-made teddy bears bound for Haiti.

Rosemont School of the Holy Child blossomed with community service activities and an afternoon of festivities during its annual Service Day on Friday, January 29.

The day began with service-related “buddy” projects. Children in 1st and 6th grades, 2nd and 7th grades, and 3rd and 8th grades combined to produce Valentine's Day cards for a U.S. Marine brigade that is stationed in Afghanistan. Fourth and 5th grade students united to craft teddy bears with Handwork Studio of Narberth for Haitian children in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Lower and Middle School children enjoyed an afternoon of games at the annual Service Day Carnival, which is a fundraiser for charities, in the O'Neill Gymnasium and the Multi-Purpose Room. Seventh and 8th grade students operated tables and games for Lower and Middle School children, who raised more than $4,000 for charities during the day.
